Detached, Connected

photography as a therapy in response to the postmodern mobility

These photographs are my journey in space. Feeling detached in a foreign city, I started off wandering with my camera and noticed much more beautiful details of the urban space. The camera is like the extension of my eyes, through its lens, I felt reconnected again. My understanding of space and place also transformed. I realise if I regard the world as a whole, I won’t feel the boundary between me and the others. Even though we are all too mobile in this postmodern world, it does not necessarily mean that we could not develop certain bonds with a particular place. It is not each individual photo in this series that is important, it is the whole photographing experience itself.
